Govt. Polytechnic Technical Staff Association is the only service organization recognized by Govt. of Kerala wide GO(MS) 148/Public Services(D) dated 04.04.1966. During the past, GPTSA have submitted hundreds of memorandums and representations for the implementation of AICTE pay scale to polytechnic teachers. Former President Sri. K Raveendran and Sri. V A Shamsudeen represented GPTSA in many meetings organized for the AICTE scheme implementations along with other service organizations of its kind during 1990-2007.

·        On 13th January 2007, a very special meeting held at Thrissur decided to merge other similar thinking organizations to GPTSA .

·        As decided at this meeting  mass memoranda were  submitted to Hon. Chief Minister, Minister for Education, Minister for Finance, LDF Convener, CPM Secretary, Higher Education Secretary, Director of Technical Education and Joint Director(PS) on 14.02.1007. More than 70 members of GPTSA accompanied this movement.  

·        GPTSA unit committees in 46 polytechnics, District Committees in all districts were formulated and Zonal conventions were organized during February-march 2007.

·        On March 12th 2007, GPTSA organized a massive Secretariat Dharma for implementing AICTE scheme, inaugurated by Sri. K T Jaleel MLA followed by convention at Adhyapaka bhavan, Thiruvanathapuram. The state convention agreed the amendments in the byelaw to include aided polytechnic staff, non-technical teachers, physical education instructors and librarians who are the part of ACITE scheme.The meeting elected state office bearers, central committee members, state committee members.

The meeting decided to boycott practical examinations and centralized valuation camp of march 2007.

·        Higher Education Secretary called a discussions regarding strike. President Sri. C P Sureshkumar, Secretary Sri. Abdula Nasar Kaipanchery, Sri. Boban, Sri. Manoharan, Sri. Raveendran participated the discussions. As the outcome of the discussions were not fruitful, GPTSA central committee decided to continue boycotting

·         Further discussions were held between Hon. Minister for Education and office bearers of GPTSA, and the central committee on 01.05.2007 decided to withdraw boycotting examination activities.

·        The reformation of GPTSA in January 2007 was a result of the denial of TA/DA to supplementary camps. As a result of our repeated struggles and representations the govt. disbursed TA/DA for supplementary camps of January 2007, during the camp May 2007. 

·        GPTSA representatives participated Special Rule amendment Meeting at Directorate of Technical Education and presented our rights, suggestions and complaints.

·        GPTSA approached the Hon. High Court for violation of Transfer guidelines and obtained favorable judgments.

·        The Higher Education department ordered to publish provisional list before general transfer in the case of Head of Section according to the court direction on the petition filed by GPTSA.

·        GPTSA is the only categorical organization which represented the Adalath held at Directorate of Technical Education by Hon. Minister for Education Sri. M A Baby. GPTSA represented a memorandum with 14 demands to the minister.

·        GPTSA was first organization which protested the order of equating 3 year diploma course to VHSE courses.
